In the first com-paw-tition of its kind, 16 adoptable pets will play to win donations from Petplan pet insurance for each move up the bracket in the Tournament of Tails: Sweet 16 Shelter Pet Challenge with the champion scoring a $ 5,000 donation for their shelter.
The fun starts on Selection Sunday, March 16, when Petplan will reveal the 16 furry friends competing for the win. The adoptable (and adorable!) dogs and cats will be announced on Petplans Facebook page at 5 p.m. EST. Each match-up will take place on Facebook, where fans can comment to vote for the pet theyd like to advance culminating with a championship match-up on Monday, April 7. Player profiles will be featured throughout the tournament to help fans get to know the pets and shelters theyre playing for.
As the sports world is taken over by March Madness, wed like to champion shelter pets to help them find forever homes, says Natasha Ashton, co-Founder and co-CEO of Petplan. Giving back to pets what we call Petplanthropy has always been close to our hearts, and we feel this is a wonderful way to celebrate the great work shelters do on behalf of our four-legged friends.
Every pet selected will score a donation for their shelter: each Sweet 16 pet will receive $ 100, the Great 8 will each win $ 250, the Final Fur will each receive $ 500 and the champion will receive $ 5,000 for their shelter.
